USA 2016 – Florida and New York Day 10 – We’re heading to Miami!!

With a tinge of sadness, we leave the Keys today.

As mentioned in previous posts, we definitely want to return. We couldn’t have hoped for a nicer hotel for our last stop out of the Keys.

The Amara Cay resort while not the cheapest we have stayed in has probably been the most luxurious. The room was great, the reception and bar area cool and the pool right near the beach was hot!!

The only downside was they were doing work there during our one night visit but it didn’t bother us too much.

We packed up the car, checked out and after taking a few snaps around the hotel, headed north for the 2 hour drive to Miami.

We had breakfast in the room this morning quite early so 30 minutes up the road at about midday we stopped for lunch at a place called the Lazy Lobster.

A cool funky little place with plenty of seating indoors and out.

The hot baking sun meant we hunted around for a table with a bit of shade but we found one and settled down

Simple lunch, we all shared a few starters, and got a nice chunk of Key Lime pie to go, which we would end up eating later that night all 3 of us tucked up in the hotel bed!

However, I can’t let this post get written without mentioning where we nearly had breakfast. To get to the Lazy Lobster we had to do a U-Turn and swing into the car park quite quickly. However, we slightly missed the turn, and ended up in the car park of the Lovers Boutique.

We chose not to visit on this occasion, maybe next time!

After lunch it was back in the car for what was our last serious drive in the nice warm weather.

After a while we left the Keys behind us and as it faded into the distance, the traffic started to build. My obsession with trying to avoid toll roads meant it took us longer to get to Miami but with Max snoozing in the back that was fine.

Eventually Max woke up when we were about 15 minutes from the hotel. Circa39 is on the corner of a one way maze. We missed the road to start with but made it on the second pass

How much??

I went in and found there was a resort fee of $15 and a parking fee of $25 a night. So that $40 on top of the room rate. This is likely to be standard in all Miami hotels I’d imagine.

Also, 5c change from $5 for a bottle of water? How can this be justified? All other hotels we have stayed in have provided 2 bottles FOC. Take note Circa39!!

After checking into our smallest room of the trip so far, it was gone 5pm so it was off to the beach for a walk and to find somewhere to eat.

The beach was deserted but the sunset looked like a good one in the distance. Unfortunately blocked by hotels.

We had tea at a place called Carrabba’s, set just off the beach and on a cool decking with lighting and a straw hut for a bar

We then ventured back to the hotel for one last drink at the pool. Tomorrow we are heading down to south beach, and maybe a drive into the city, just to say we did!

Unfortunately, while still warm, we may have seen the last of the sunshine, but we can’t complain. We have had only a few hours of rain one evening in Key West.

That’s our Story, here are a few Snaps.

Have a great weekend everyone!
